Red Ribbon Club

Red Ribbon is a globally recognized symbol for HIV/AIDS awareness. Establishment of Red Ribbon Clubs was an important initiative undertaken by the Government of India to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS.The red ribbon foundation is an organization founded in 1993 whose main purpose is the education about prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV, Acquired Deficiency Syndrome Related Complex, ARC and AIDS.Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a voluntary on-campus intervention implemented which aimed at creating awareness about thehigh risk perception and preventing HIV as well as promoting voluntary blood donation among the students.

Objectives:

  • To reduce new HIV infection among youth by raising their risk perception through awareness of Sex, Sexuality and HIV & AIDS.
  • To induce among youth the spirit to help and support People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) thereby reducing stigma and discrimination against them.
  • To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills of leadership, negotiation, and team building.
  • To promote Voluntary non-remunerated Blood Donation among youth.

The RRC in our College

The Red Ribbon Club was started in our college in 1993 from this year onwards the significant strength of students are being enrolled in RRC which consists of both male and female students. The present strength of RRC’ volunteers is recoded as more 100 students from various departments of our college. So the every one of the RRC’programmeswhich has been successfully completed as the appreciable manner.

  • By involving the members of Red Ribbon Club of the college, we conduct AIDS/HIV Awareness programmes, Cultural Events and so many other activities for the benefit of our students.
  • We organize Blood Donation Camps by involving Government Hospital Blood Bank officials. On an average, we donate at least more than 100 units of blood every year from our volunteers.
  • We invited every year that the special speaker from medical field where relate upon awareness of HIV/AIDS.
  • The students were participated in the several rallies to create that the awareness such as pertaining to drug abuse, tobacco consuming, smoking and HIV/AIDS.
